Newly arrived overseas priest - Reverend Joseph Raj Savarimuthu
We warmly welcome Father Joseph Raj Savarimuthu (aka ‘Fr Raj’) to the Parishes of St Monica Moonee Ponds & St Vincent de Paul Strathmore; he has been granted a Temporary three-year visa to minister in the Archdiocese. Having recently arrived in Melbourne, Father Raj has been undertaking a period of orientation and was residing at the Cathedral Presbytery. Fr Raj, originally from India, has spent many years in the Archdiocese of Castries, having held numerous positions. He holds a Licentiate and Doctorate in Moral Theology and a Licentiate in Canon Law. We pray upon Fr Raj every blessing for his ministry among us, and who arrived on August 22nd 2025.

A Prayer for priests (by St. Thérèse of Lisieux)

O Jesus, eternal Priest,
keep your priests within the shelter of Your Sacred Heart, where none may touch them.

Keep unstained their anointed hands, 
which daily touch Your Sacred Body.
Keep unsullied their lips, 
daily purpled with your Precious Blood.
Keep pure and unearthly their hearts, 
sealed with the sublime mark of the priesthood.
Let Your holy love surround them and shield them from the world's contagion.

Bless their labours with abundant fruit and
may the souls to whom they minister be their joy and consolation
​here and in heaven their beautiful and everlasting crown.
​Amen.
